Transport of heavy cargo on ship yards, airports etc. is a time consuming and capital intensive detail. Commonly, large cranes or lifts are employed for this task in concerned industries. Due to heavy weight this process of transportation moreover requires a large amount of energy. As a solution to this problem a transportation system based on air bearings is proposed. Air bearings fall in the category of aerostatic fluid film bearings, where the complete load is supported by a gas film, hence having no contact between the bearing surfaces. Furthermore, since the bearing is fluid, there is no wear theoretically in such systems. For motive power there vehicles rely on linear motor like tracks similar to electric bullet trains.
